Graham Cole (for Lee Pidgley 75 mins) Report With a strong squad available, the instructions were to go out and dominate the game from the first whistle. This we attempted to do, but to their credit Trinidad fought well and the first half was fairly even, although we were playing the more structured football and when we kept the ball on the ground we looked dangerous. I felt the first half was shaded by us and it looked as if we were going in all square when we won a corner from which Pete Hunt headed in from 8 yards. We started scrappily in the 2nd half but after 10 minutes or so started to dominate and a few chances were being created. After 20 minutes we were awarded an indirect free kick in Trinidad's area for a back pass picked up by the keeper. From this Martin Newbury slotted home our second goal. It was even after that until the last 10 minutes when James Murray burst through from left back, carried the ball all the way into their area, along the by line before setting up Adam Richmond for an easy tap in. A couple of minutes later we broke again and spread the ball from left to right until it reached Dean Evans whose shot was almost saved by the keeper, but it still found its way into the net. Good to get a decent win for a change along with a clean sheet, which we will need as we have a tough few weeks coming up! |
