For a change we were out of the traps quickly. Hockey and Weardon looked sharp as we pushed forward from the whistle. Criciun provided and opportunity for Grzybowski with ten minutes gone but it was the side netting preventing the ball finishing up in the bushes.

Bignell and Toth dominated our central area, well supported by Kerr and Fletcher. Dinnivan provided a safe pair of hands between the sticks taking a couple of shots that crept through.

Half way through the half Ash took more possession but we defended well and with our usual finishing skills went in at half time without any disturbance on the score board.

The second half looked a mirror image of the first with both teams trying hard, Hockey and Weardon went close and a Criciun daisy cutter skimmed the foot of the post.

Counters from Ash were mopped up by good defensive cover and we gradually regained possession.

15 minutes left and at last we went in front from a Weardon volley into the bottom corner. 1-0.

Ash retaliated pushing men froward but on the day they met a very resilient Verwood defence.

When the whistle went, we had picked up an invaluable 3 points from a thoroughly deserved win.

Result 1-0.
