Big changes to the squad and the old adage “old habits die hard” became stark reality in this cup game against Cobham.

We kicked off giving ground at once to Cobham’s 10 out fielders. 4 minutes gone and a long hopeful shot skipped past Edmond’s to notch a 0-1 lead for the visitors.

8 minutes we lost the ball mid field and a couple of seconds later went behind 0-2 !!

Cobham invaded our third leaving just the keeper in their half. Conversely, we filled our area with bodies. It stopped the rot and although still under pressure we fought back with a few spirited attacks but reminiscent of recent games, with blunt finishing.

47 minutes, a slight lapse in concentration resulted in a scramble in our box…0-3.

The dressing room chat was filed away when we kicked off. A mirror image of the start in the first half put us under pressure again.

A corner for Cobham with 5 minutes gone dropped on the penalty spot. A mad scramble to clear was partly successful as the ball was punted up in the air dropping on the edge of the area. Falling nicely for Cobham’s attackers the ball was whipped back in and evaded boots to nestle snugly in the bottom corner. 0-4.

A few token attacks in the middle of the half should have yielded but we had nothing to offer in front of the sticks.

36 gone and a high ball out of Cobham’s midfield sailed over Edmond’s into the roof of the net. Ugly goal but they all count. 0-5.

39 we opened up for an unchallenged shot 0-6.

Two minutes of extra time 0-7.

Result 0-7
