Match Report Verwood Town vs Dorchester Sports 27-Sep-25

DORSET PREMIER LEAGUE
SATURDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER 2025
VERWOOD TOWN 0 DORCHESTER SPORTS 5

Another VT poor start gave DS a goal in the first 4 minutes of play. A token attack from the whistle was easily dealt with by the visitor's defence. A long ball down their right caught us napping. A low cross turned in past Beck and we were looking at the wrong end of a score line. 0-1.

Although a good rally followed we didn’t have enough in the locker to threaten Dorchester’s goal. Approach was good but with no finishing touch the visiting keeper could have spent the half in a deck chair.

20 minutes had elapsed before we gave extra space again at the back letting in a runner to follow up a long ball and tuck it past an advancing Beck. 0-2.

4 minutes extra time and we were looking for the break…DS took advantage and made it 0-3 with a snap counter.

Half Time. 0-3.

A good start to the second half saw good football proving there was a competitive edge somewhere but inconsistencies in play gave a comfortable resistance to the initial threat on Dorchester’s goal.

Dorchester’s long ball out of defence on six minutes wasn’t covered and a very ecstatic DS bench celebrated a fourth. 0-4.

On 12 minutes Bartlett and Grzybowksi gave way for Lillis and and Knott. Best then made way for Roushbiania.

Changes didn’t make much impact as we continued on the back foot. 4 minutes after the changes Dorchester got a nap hand following a dreadful mix up in defence. 0-5.

35 gone and Lawrence made a bow replacing Matthews.

A late rally fell flat again in front of the sticks leaving Dorchester to go home with a comfortable 3 points.

Result 0-5.
