A typical start. 0-1 in only the second minute of the game.
20 seconds from the whistle we forced a corner. An inswinger hit the bar and rebounded. Cobham countered with a long ball wide to their left. No challenge. 0-1.
Shaken but not stirred we were on the back foot for a while giving our defence a lot to do as Cobham pursued another goal.
The game settled with possession shared. Chances were wasted that if converted would have put us ahead.
A lively Cobham kept our defence on their toes, but we rallied well and countered on several occasions that should have yielded. It was another of our goal famines to half time.

Matthews caught the eye with a great run from the whistle splitting the visitors wide open with a surging run. A shot from the edge of the box though finished with a dead ball decision.
Then came 5 minutes of a Verwood team that could have doubled up for the Terracotta Army. 4 goals in 5 minutes . 0-5.
It took a long time to settle again and to keep the score board from rattling on.
Dreadful finishing meant a holiday for the visiting keeper. Chances were frequent but we continued our drought.
Cobham took the three points keeping a clean sheet.
