Christmas came early for Holt. They were gifted goals and three points as an extremely generous VTFC joined them in attack putting the ball on a plate for thankful Holt forwards.

As usual we started with Holt’s first goal gifted in 4 minutes after the ref’s whistle. 0-1.

We did recover to play some good football for the rest of the half but yet again failing miserably in front of the sticks to put the ball in the net.

Our back four did well curbing Holt’s attacks and Knibbs confident handling led the way for no further changes to the score line up to half time.

Half Time. 0-1

A Matthews run with only a minute gone from the whistle split Holt’s defence but the finish went wide of the post.

We pushed on. Two corners in succession should have yielded but Holts defence blocked efforts and kept their sheet clean.

Santa appeared. A screwed pass back landed on the toes of a Holt boot in the penalty box. 0-2. 12 gone.

19 minutes gift number three. Another pass back found a Holt player just outside the box. Knibbs raced forward but a chip sailed over him and into an empty net 0-3.

Our passing deteriorated and frustration led to Holt having a holiday in defence. Our mid field had gone AWOL leaving gaps wider than the M1.

36 saw Holt grab their fourth from a corner. A scramble in the box resulted in a Holt toe poking the ball past Knibbs for number 4.

The game finished with play in our third but fortunately having no further changes to the score board
