Our annual friendly against Wimborne for the Steve Moore Trophy was our first of the season and an opportunity to give minutes to 22 potential squad players.

The game was split into two separate teams in each 45 minutes.

The first 45 saw good football from both teams with Wimborne looking the more settled side.

On 18 minutes Wimborne went ahead from an inswinging corner and a good header into the top corner. 0-1.

We countered with a couple of good chances but couldn’t convert.

10 minutes left and a break down their right finished with a cross and another header flying into the roof of the net 0-2

Andrews pulled of a body block save on the whistle to prevent Wimborne going further ahead.

45 minutes. 0-2.

Wholesale changes and we suffered a blitzing start. 3 minutes 0-3. 5 minutes 0-4. We tried to retaliate but the Wimborne defence was tight and tidy.

12 minutes 0-5. A long ball soared over the midfield and a runner went free to slot the ball into the bottom corner.

20 minutes and a free kick just outside the box whistled into the net making it 0-6.

We managed to get back in the game but on 43 and 45 minutes Wimborne slotted home two more to retain the Trophy.
