PRE-SEASON
SATURDAY 1ST AUGUST 2026
VERWOOD TOWN 0 BOURNEMOUTH ELECTRIC 6
Last of our friendlies before the start of our 26/27 season. Holidays left a ravaged squad but we still had sufficient players for the game. A few unfamiliar roles but a good test for players to make impact.
Electric gave us no time to settle. Instant attack and a corner forced in only the second minute. Wallis finger tipped and Richardson connected to clear. No respite though. The ball was pumped back into the rea and this time it was Joyce beating runners to clear.
Only 5 minutes gone and we had to defend 3 corner’s on the trot as Electric’s pressure intensified. Headed clearances kept the sheet clean and then for the first time we managed to counter but the attack was blocked and cleared on he edge of the box.
8 minutes and we let in a runner to the corner of the box. 0-1.
We gradually got into the game but Electric’s energy gave them advantage on possession.
34 we pushed up and got caught by a long ball down their left flank. Our defence was simply outpaced leaving the runner to slide the ball past Wallis to make it 0-2.
Pressure continued to the whistle with our defence and Wallis keeping the score board from further changes.
Half Time. 0-2
Similar to previous friendlies several changes were made at half time to both personnel and positional
Within 2 minutes Wallis had to race out to punt the ball away from the area. Kwaminda tried hard in the middle but was overrun and Electric again had the energy to keep our area under threat.
We had a couple of chances as the game opened up but never had anyone up front that was able to chalk up a goal.
9 minutes and after heading tennis in our box a half clearance was hammered back in to make it a comfortable 0-3.
26 minutes saw 0-4 as a shot hit the bar and then volleyed back in past Wallis.
5 minutes later we were split wide open down the middle and a lone runner chipped an advancing Wallis to make it 0-5.
To close the game and busy score board we gave away a penalty on 90 minutes.
0-6. There was insufficient time to kick off again so the whistle blew giving Electric bragging rights,
Result. 0-6
