VERWOOD TOWN 0 WIMBORNE TOWN RESERVES 3

Christmas came early for Wimborne Reserves. Our placid and generous features were in abundance as we gifted 3 points.

50 seconds, a free kick to Wimborne 30 yards out was palmed out by Wallis. A quick response and a Danvers cross taken by the Wimborne keeper.

A good opening with both teams looking to attack. Then the spirit of Christmas kicked in.

Wimborne’s possession increased putting our defence under pressure. Kerr’s stand in role at right back was tested and came through very well alongside Penn Pope and Best.

Our midfield lost its way. An inevitable goal whipped past Wallis on 19 minutes. 0-1.

Wimborne’s defence went untroubled for long periods as we stood off giving room for Wimborne to practice their passing skills.

Half Time 0-1

Rahman made way to give Wes Hayward his first minutes in the team

Half time chat looked as if it had worked. 1 minute on the clock and we cut through on the left. A good cross was taken by the keeper. A big punt upfield and Wimborne forced a corner. Mayo won the header but the ball dropped nicely for an unmarked forward to luckily put the ball over the bar.

4 gone and Haywards early contribution was a through ball to put Kwaminda free to force a corner. A melee in the box finished with the keeper gathering on the post. That was the apparent signal for us to save energy and give Wimborne space and time to build their game.

12 minutes a clear path through the middle and a left foot shot whipped past Wallis to make it 0-2.

We produced a token period of resistance but insufficient to curb Wimborne’s energy

36 minutes and a gap wider than the M1 gifted Wimborne space for a runner and their third. 0-3.

40 Scott came on for Howe.

The whistle blew on 50 minutes and a comfortable win for the visitors.

Result 0-3
