At 2 pm large areas of the pitch were still showing signs of heavy frost. Many of those onlookers who had arrived early were surprised when the referee ruled the game on. It was certainly a questionable decision.

New Milton went ahead on 15 minutes through a defensive lapse of concentration. We dug in and retaliated producing some good football on a difficult pitch.

A reward for effort came through a Carswell well taken goal after 20 minutes. 1-1.

We almost nudged in front when Fishlock went close five minutes later but his shot was deflected past the post with the keeper beaten.

A penalty award gave a second goal to NM just before the whistle giving a half time score line of 1-2.

A good fight back in the second half had NM on the defensive but we suffered not going ahead because of a few indecisions in front of the sticks.

Joe Smith battled hard up front but a seasoned New Milton prevented a clear shot on goal.

The pitch developed a frosty sheen as the half wore on and the slippy nature gave cause for concern.

On 65 minutes Fishlock suffered the indignity of a red so after a shuffle of the formation we battled on with ten men against strong opponents.

NM bagged a third before the final whistle giving them a score line that reflected a healthier result than it really was.
