Last nights postponement at Fleetlands due to the wet weather and all those others affected last night adds to the league fixture congestion which for some means playing three times a week through to the end of (the now) slightly extended finish date. We are not as worse off as some in this respect, but it got your webmaster thinking about how weather related postponements had affected us in previous seasons. Here is the table after a quick examination of our records and covering those as a result of weather related postponement's or abandonment's such as rain or snow.

David Leigh was recently awarded Life Vice President position within the club joining previously appointed Life Vice President's Bernard Scott and Michael Fry. The position is awarded for outstanding services to the club. A club Committee member for many years, many will be aware of the tremendous dedication and hard work he has given to the club. This includes of course our 200 Club, the Lee Simmonds Tournaments in the 2000’s, and all the hard work he puts in around the ground at Potterne and much much more over nearly 30 years.

It was smiles all round at the finish following Jake Carswell's cracking shot, the last kick of the game, hitting the target. A long evening trip to Farnborough team Cove, a damp evening at times too and an eventful match and one which saw three penalties being awarded against Verwood. However, an emphatic win at last for Verwood taking this Velocity Wessex League Cup tie 6-1.

hlpix Two Home matches - start the Wessex league season as fixtures are announced with matches against Alresford Town on Saturday 5th August followed by Totton & Eling on Tuesday 8th scheduled to start our league season. The full season's fixture list has been released by the league although as usual some fixtures will possibly change prior to their dates and as cup competitions progress, also this season the league has more clubs in ground sharing arrangements that will no doubt prove an additional complexity.
