A wet and windy Wednesday night at Whitchurch hosted a good squad looking to continue a winning form. We got it.

Dave Kerr put the ball past the keeper with ten minutes gone and current hot shot Louis McWilliams followed suit a couple of minutes later slotting a great goal past a harassed keeper 2-0.

A Whitchurch response was swift and a good move put them on the score board. 2-1. So, by the time we had reached half way through the first 45 we had seen 3 goals and looking as if we could expect more as both teams went for the win.

We were pushed back for a period but Warburton and Smith put the shutters up, Matthews and Kerr holding the full back spots had chalk on their boots as the full width of the pitch was used.

Dave Kerr stepped up to the oche again and scored his second of the game with a stunning drive. 3-1

The half ended with Farndell going close from a Carswell through ball.

Half Time 3-1.

Whitchurch came out all fired up and forced us back in our third. Storey blocked one run and a Matthews timely sliding tackle prevented entry into the box. We survived the onslaught with good defending and good football. We pushed on.

We fell foul of pushing too far up half way through the half and suffered when a counter was allowed to progress and a rising shot was just out of Coombes reach. 3-2.

Both sides kept their attacking ideas and while both team management’s had squeaky bum times we had the better of exchanges.

The clincher came when a melee in the Whitchurch resulted in a penalty award. Up stepped Cam Smith too bury the ball in the back of the net and to secure a hat trick of wins.

Result 4-2.
